St Gabriel’s End of Autumn Term Newsletter 2023

What a busy yet jolly end of term! We are so proud of our children and the festive joy that they have spread with all of their Christmas performances.

We have enjoyed our Christmas dinner this week and the whole school looked very festive both in clothing and decorations!

This Monday evening also saw a number of our Year 5 and Year 6 pupils performing as part of a Newport Catholic Cluster Choir at the All Saints ‘Nine Carols and Lessons’ Parish Carol Service. They sang beautifully and it was a pleasure to see them taking such a key role in our Parish Service.

A highlight has also been the ‘Rockin’ Robin’ show delivered by Louby Lou’s Storytelling – a truly fabulous gift for all our children from the Friends of St Gabriel’s.

On behalf of all the staff of St. Gabriel’s may we wish you a happy, healthy and holy Christmas.

School News

Next term Mrs Stuart ends her phased return after maternity leave and increases her time from the afternoons back to her full time role as class teacher for Year 1.

I know Year 1 will miss Mr Reed, who has taught them in the morning session this term, but they will still see him as his wider role across the school continues next term. We thank him for all his hard work as Year 1 have settled into their new year group.

Friends of St Gabriel’s Raffle

We are so pleased to share that the Friends of St Gabriel’s raffle has raised £489. Thank you so much to the ‘friends’ who organised the range of prizes and also to our school community for the items that filled our vast number of hampers!

Well done to all the winners and a final thank you to everyone who bought a ticket – we

really appreciate the support shown to our school.

Cafe Nadolig

All classes by the end of Friday will have had their Cafe Nadolig experience. For the classes that have been part of Cafe Nadolig at the time of writing this, they have thoroughly enjoyed performing in Welsh and sharing their welsh skills via a board game.

Our thanks go to Mrs de Lima for has organised this lovely event and also the ‘Criw Cymreig’ Ministry that have been such fantastic Welsh champions. Our thanks also go to all the staff that participated in the sessions and have supported the children to make it such an enjoyable experience.
