Newsletter 8.11.19
Dear Parents and Carers,
We hope everyone had a lovely half term break. The first week back has gone very quickly. We have had our Section 50 Religious Education Inspection and are looking forward to sharing the report with you when it is published. Many thanks to all the parents that sent back questionnaires and also those who were able to attend the Parent Meeting.
Foundation Phase Nativity
It’s almost that time of year again! The children in Foundation Phase will soon being their preparations for their Christmas Nativity – one of my favourite events in the school year.
As Foundation Phase is now three classes, we are having three performances with the family of each class having a date to be their audience – see the information in the dates section below. We understand due to work and other commitments that some families may need to attend a different performance, if this is the case – please do get in touch with the school office.
It has now been school policy for a number of years that children under nursery age do not attend the Foundation Phase performances. This has ensured that the children performing are able to focus and concentrate without distractions. We absolutely understand that sometimes organising child care can be tricky so if you need to bring a child that is under nursery age, provision will be made for you to attend the dress rehearsal. Again, please let the school office know so we can ensure we have sufficient seating planned.
Friends of St. Gabriel’s
As our school has grown, ‘The Friends’ are trialling a different approach to film night with Foundation Phase and Key Stage 2 having their own evenings. I’d like to thank the volunteers and staff that are donating their time over these two evenings to try and provide the best possible experience for our pupils.
Please check your parentpay accounts for a letter linked to the first evening which is the Foundation Phase Film night.
Remembrance 2019
Poppies are still being sold next Monday. If you get the chance, please do take a look at our Faith Tree in the Foundation Phase Outdoor Area – Dosbarth Rhaglan have made beautiful poppies to adorn the trunk.
Scout Stamps
We are proud to once again be supporting our local Scout Institution by having the Scout stamps available to sell and the post box in our foyer. Stamps (for all areas of Newport) are 25p – a bargain I’m sure you’d agree! The final date before the scout stamp post box is collected is Monday 9th December.
Parents’ Evening
Parent Consultation appointments will be taking place in the last week of November. We will be setting up the online booking system shortly – look out for a text message that will alert you to this.
