Newsletter 12.3.21
Dear Parents and Carers,
We are very excited to have the news confirmed that Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 will be returning to school on Monday.
Please all note the staggered start and end times (a more detailed letter has been sent to our KS2 parents last week) to support us in managing social distancing to reduce the spread of Covid-19 in community transmission.
Queuing at Start and End of the School Day
Foundation Phase parents and pupils please queue along the fence by the school field, using the fence posts to guide social distance between households.
Key Stage 2 parents and pupils please queue along the fencing that is opposite the school building, again, using the fence posts to guide social distancing between households.
Drop off times
Reception and Year 3 pupils through the gate at 8:45 am.
Year 1 and Year 4 pupils through the gate at 9 am.
Year 2, Year 5 and Year 6 pupils through the gate at 9:15 am.
PLEASE NOTE: If Year 1, Year 2, Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 or Year 6 pupils have a younger sibling, ALL siblings begin at the youngest child’s start time.
The flexibility with the older sibling start times is to reduce the risk of community transmission as those dropping off do not then need to wait for another start time.
Pick up times
Reception and Year 3 pupils: 2:45 pm
Year 1 and Year 4 pupils: 3 pm
Year 2, Year 5 and Year 6 pupils: 3:15 pm
PLEASE NOTE: If Year 1, Year 2, Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 or Year 6 pupils have a younger sibling, ALL siblings will leave at the youngest child’s end time.
The flexibility with the older sibling end times is to reduce the risk of community transmission as those dropping off do not then need to wait for another end time.
Easter Raffle
We will be having an Easter raffle with two prizes for each class. Many thanks to Danielle in liaison with Tesco for organising and sourcing the lovely prizes…pictures will go on twitter when we receive them next week.Tickets will be available to buy later today on ParentPay and will cost £1 each. The raffle will close at the end of the day on Wednesday 24th March. Good luck everyone!
World Book Day Prizes
We know lots of children are keen to find out the winners of the Book Day competitions – competitions are being finalised today and the winners will be announced over the next school week. Watch this space!
Curriculum Reform
This week, The Senedd has voted to pass the ‘Curriculum and Assessment Bill’ meaning the new Curriculum for Wales will be officially introduced in 2022. For us this will be a continuation of the work we have been undertaking over the last two years as we prepare for the curriculum reform. As Mr. Drakeford posted on twitter this week, “The purpose of the new curriculum is to help transform our education system, giving our children the knowledge, skills and experiences, they deserve.”
Training Days (School Closed) for the remainder of this school year:
Monday 12th April 2021
Friday 28th May 2021
Monday 7th June 2021
Monday 19th July 2021
Tuesday 20th July 2021
There is one more date to be allocated which will be announced at the start of the Summer term (we are waiting to see the latest operational guidance for schools to see what type of training can be facilitated).
Reminder: Symptom Awareness
Please do not send your child to school if they have any of the following symptoms:
- A new and continuous cough
- A high temperature
- Loss of taste or smell
If any of these symptoms occur please book a Covid-19 test as soon as is possible and communicate the result to us via school text service or school email (day or night) as soon as you receive it.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs M. Harris
Headteacher
