Task 1: Reading
- Read your home reading book or a book you are currently reading at home. Answer these comprehension questions with your grown-up:
- Who are the main characters?
- From whose point of view is the story told?
- Can you think of another story character similar to a character in this book?
- How has the author use description to show how the character feels?
- Who would you recommend this book to?
- Make sure your grown-up signs your home reading book and bring it in on Fridays for me to sign.
- Giglets – Read the books I have allocated you. Complete the HOTS and Reading Test tasks.

Maths
Find the area and perimeter of different simple shapes and compound shapes. For area you use length x width and for the perimeter you add the sides of the shape together.
Find the volume using length x width x depth.
Use the long division chunking method to answer division sums. I’ve included a guide to help you.
English
Using your Science research from last week, write an explanation of how Aeroplanes fly. I’ve included a list of the features of an explanation text and a planning sheet in this pack for you to plan it first and then write the explanation. I expect a minimum of 4 paragraphs.

Can you find these readings in a Bible or in an online Bible and tell be which book of the Bible they are from and what the message is in the reading? I’ve included a list of the books of the Bible for you to read and help you.

Plan a fair Science investigation to find out how far you can throw a piece of A4 paper. I’ve included an overview with questions to help you to plan it.

Task 1: PE
Learn the rules of the game of tennis. We will be playing tennis when we get back to school. If you have a tennis racket and ball, practise bouncing the ball on the racket – how many can you do in a row? If you don’t have a racket, how many times can you bounce or catch a tennis ball in a row?
Task 2: Project
Continue with your research into the person you chose who broke boundaries and improved the world for humans and other animals. If you have Netflix, you can also watch ‘The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind’ as this is our class book.
Task 3: Design Technology
I’ve included worksheets for you to test different designs of pillars and beams used to build bridges. Test them using pasta if you do not have weights at home.
